Very nice article about Norm Devio in The New York Times. Of course for us (the armwrestlers) it’s not actually a surprise that Sylvester Stallone was not very good at armwrestling as it was portrayed in the “Over the Top” movie. After all Stallone is just an actor.
I don’t think someone believes Stallone was a very good boxer, although the character he played, Rocky Balboa, was a champion boxer in the Rocky (film series).
I really hope that it will come a day when armwrestling will be perceived by all people as a real sport, and the average guy who never lost at arm wrestling because he never met a real armwrestler (you know the type) will understand, even before trying, that he stands no chance against a good armwrestler who is training for years.
Maybe the best part of this article about Norm Devio from The New York Times is the small footnote at the end which tell us that the article was also published in the Print version (it wasn’t just online): ” A version of this article appears in print on September 20, 2016, on page B12 of the New York edition with the headline: The Arm Wrestler. ” ► The 75-Year-Old Arm Wrestler – The New York Times
Norm Devio was born in 1940 (I couldn’t find the exact date), that means this year he will celebrate his 76th birthday. You can find more info about him:
