” After you won, I spoke to many people who were very excited that you managed to beat the undefeated Cyplenkov. They spoke of you with enthusiasm and wished you to beat him again. Do you think this may be a symptom of the world getting tired of obvious favorites and constant domination of the contestant from the former USSR countries? Is it USA’s time now?
I think people like to root for the underdog. Denis had been put on a pedestal by everyone. Most people thought the man could not be beat. As I stated in our first interview I had a different opinion on the situation.
It’s your first time in Europe and bang! You make a great entrance and a lot of noise. Same with Tim Bresnan. You pulled an upset, and yet you were both very composed and peaceful, at least on the outside. What did you feel like inside? How great were your emotions?
I may have been calm on the outside but very different emotions on the inside. I was excited! I had just beat the number one armwrestler in the world! It’s that moment when you realize all your hard work has paid off! After I won, Everybody in the place congratulated me and wanted to get pictures taken with me. It was pretty crazy! Great feeling!
TOP 16 is coming soon. Beating Cyplenkov is a great taste of the things to come. What do you think the Americans are going to do there?
I think the Americans that are involved in the TOP 16 will do great.

I am certainly not the only one to admire John Brzenk, I mean he is the man who has done the most complete carreer in armwrestling, and sure has the best abilites to do anything at the tables, there is as well few other ones that were or still are great for example Cvetan Gashevski

Roland Kovalenoks ► Armwrestling John – Engin:
” I just watched this entire video (yes I speak Russian) and I have to say I thought of Denis as an asshole before. I no longer feel this way. He is a pretty smart person and at this point in his life he have to choose whats more important, paying his mortgage, truck payment etc or being a good athlete! He said sports are no longer his priority because his bank is not giving him any favors, his payments are due monthly. They asked if he can beat Devon easily and he said definitely no! Maybe first and second round only, he has a ton of respect for him. I have to say if Devon wants to really prove he is the best, he better do it soon before Denis no longer compete. Yes Devon it is called Nemirov or A1 where you show who is Number#1 Just words will not prove. I am willing to pay good part of your trip if you can man up and go.
I have to agree its better Paid in Russia. And that’s what Dennis mentioned to He don’t have to take that much time off work when he competes locally. He said it’s sad to see that most athletes don’t make enough to pay to fix the injuries. So according to what I understood from him I don’t think we’re going to see him on this side of the ocean.
I think we have to agree that this sport even at professional level is a hobby It does not pay anyones bills. Also something needs to be done to make the sport more enjoyable for the rest of the public. The long set up restarts etc. make it boring for most people. One of my friends commented it’s like watching paint dry “
The organizers of the Zloty Tur – Nemiroff World Cup have been waiting 13 years for this moment. The World Cup will be broadcast live on Eurosport 2.
This will allow us to get to a much larger audience – says Igor Mazurenko, organizer. The tournament is broadcast in 54 countries, in 17 languages. It will also be broadcast online. For example – only in Russia Eurosport has over 2 million subscribers.
First transmission of an armwrestling event on Eurosport was in 2005, but it wasn’t live. The semifinals and finals will be broadcast on 9th and 10th November, 20:30 Warsaw time. The organizers are counting on thus promoting armwrestling all over the world. We would also like to remind you that a New York Times photographer will be shooting female bouts for a photo story during the Cup.

I would love it to become an Olympic sport, but I do not know if it would be possible.-4. What other sport do you practice?
Just arm wrestling-5. What advice would you give to the young boys and girls who start with this sport?
Optimism, humility, claw, companionship and patience, because one day things will get better.-6. Apart from this sport… what other objectives do you have for your future?
I am still not sure about what will be best for me and for humanity, as there are many things around the game.-7. What armwrestling tecnique do you think is the best?
All the techniques are interesting, but I prefer the crossover game, because in addition to the pure strength to be threaded, the fight becomes much more beautiful to the beholder.-8. What has been your worst dissapointment in this sport?

John R Brzenk ► Armwrestling John – Engin:
” I didn’t enjoy weight training. And I realized it didn’t help me in the sport . It simply did not translate to the table. I still do a push up now and then for general health but nothing secret earth shattering to follow for the sport of armwrestling ! What works ? Is a Good Team of other pullers !!! Plain and Simple ! No bull ! ”
” I would never tell anyone not to train healthy lifts … But IMO it doesn’t hold the key to become champion . ”
” What I have learned … This is a team effort !!! ”
” I didn’t say it was 100 percent waste of time . But most people ask about the KEY and it isn’t the key. For me anyway … Funny the top pros that I know and talk to always say … When I started pulling More and lifting less is really when I started getting good ! ”
Phil Rasmussen: ” John what about bodyweight style exercises like pullups, pushups etc? I remember seeing you swing around on a playground in Pulling John just using the neutral grip on a playground for some pullups but you might have just been warming up the arms for what was to come 🙂 ”
John R Brzenk: ” No … They asked me to do that for the movie … Because I don’t train in the gym … And they needed something 🙂 ”
You’ve already participated in Nemiroff, how do you remember it?
My first time was in 2009, taking fourth place in the 95 kg category. I’m very pleased with that score.
Now you’re entering again.
Yes, I intend to fight in the under 95 kg category.
What do your preparations look like?
Everything is going according to the plan. I’m paying special attention to training the hook. World Championship, that is, the fight with Krasimir, showed me that my hook is weak and needs more attention.
What goals do you set for yourself in order to prepare?
I’m working long and hard to prepare for Nemiroff. I’m now at the last stage of these preparations. I’m expecting to qualify in the first five in my category.
Maybe it’s a trivial question, but I’ll ask: can John Brzenk reclaim his old position as the world champion of armwrestling?
I believe he will be first in his category, or at least in the top three.
The spotlight is on Denis Cyplenkov, every armwrestler wants to defeat him. Can anyone succeed?
No, Denis has no competition. It’s not just Nemiroff, but in the entire world Cyplenkov is unmatched by anyone.
What about Larratt? Opinions about the potential score of their armfight are divided. What do you think, which side will be victorious?
I’m sure that Devon is not a problem for Denis. I’m expecting 6:0 for Cyplenkov.

Sergey Tokarev: “I really want to go back to the system and to fight the guys”
Sergey Tokarev, European and world champion, Merited Master of Sports of Ukraine in arm wrestling, continuing the fall season tournaments armsportu, shared his impressions of his performances at the World Cup and spoke about their students.
IRON WORLD: At the World Cup this year, you’re not on a pedestal, what has caused your such a statement?
Sergey Tokarev: At the moment trying to get rid of injuries plaguing me with the European Championship. If everything works out, then I will certainly fight to “Nemiroff”, I want to return to a system and to fight the guys, but you need as much hands heal.JM: This year Denis Tsyplenkov will speak on “Nemiroff”, who do you think will be able to resist him?
ST: It depends on who comes. In recent years there has been a trend that all but a couple of people, give him a hand so as not to “clog”. If we assume that everything is possible, then, I think, after Zaruba, for example, with Andrey Pushkar, Lupkesom and reinstated John Brzenk all be drastically changed. After all, it is clear that Dennis with his power actually win only a good poobtrepav.JM: You’re talking about his students, and who are they? Already there who boast?
ST: At the level of the world and Europe yet, but for the next Cup ride Dmitriy Kharchenko, Vitaly Latyshev, Bogdan Reznichenko and Alexey Vasiliev. I think some of the names are already known to the championship of Ukraine this year and then the championship will become even more famous. Give a little more time, and the result will be.JM: Wow, a lot of names, I believe, the students – a continuation of you.
ST: In a way, of course, is a continuation of the traditions Alchevsky arm wrestling, and here, too, can not blunder, everything must be treated as a job, and then get the appropriate results. We in the Luhansk region currently open for two Youth armsportu the first time in 10 years took place on the field armsportu Cup, open halls, a new wave, so expect in the near future, new names!Author: Julia KhozyainovaOriginal article – IronWorld.ru │ Google Translate
