Marvin Alex Cohen the man behind the Bar Arm Wrestling Championships, besides the Over the Top movie, was also involved in the project The armwrestling match between an EAP actuated robotic arm and a human. The leader of that project was Dr. Yoseph Bar-Cohen from Jet Propulsion Laboratory, who has received NASA Honor Award Medals for Exceptional Engineering and Exceptional Technology achievements. I’m just guessing here, but I believe that the Bar name in the “World Bar Arm Wrestling Championships” is somehow connected with the name of Dr. Yoseph Bar-Cohen.

John Brzenk is giving shirts from past events for free, shipping included :)

John Brzenk │Photo Source: John R Brzenk

John R Brzenk in Armwrestling John – Engin:

” OK , so I was doing a little clean up today ! I have a huge box in my basement with t shirts from past events … Got to get rid of them … Was thinking of sending one t shirt a week to anyone that would want one on this board … FREE I’ll even pay for shipping 🙂 just need to figure out a fair method 🙂 ”

”  Ok Engin , I’ll let you be in charge of the game … I was thinking of something easier like placing a number on the back of it between one and a hundred each week … The one who is closest gets it ! ”

” I do have a few Yukon jack”

” I’ll take a picture of one each Sunday … Starting tomorrow … And I’ll assign a number to it somehow ??? “

” I’ll only show the time stamped photo with the number to my wife 🙂 until the following week !!! Will this work ?

Engin Terzi John you could make a few grands with those shirts but you choose to send them for free.. i respect this !

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The rules are changed, you don’t have to write a number anymore to get the shirt, you only have to like the post with the shirt in Armwrestling John – Engin, according to John Brzenk:

John R Brzenk  – Armwrestling John – Engin:

” So … I didn’t think this through very well .. But now I have a better handle on it 🙂 still going to give two 1999 WAF shirts away on Thursday practice . But this is what I can see … On my iPhone the order you hit like stays in order … So keep track of your number when you hit it … It should stay pretty close unless others before you unlike after liking 🙂 ??? I’ll count from the bottom up !!! And I found a cool Random number generator App that I will hit on Thursday night while being video taped … It will pick a random number between 1 and the highest number we have each week on the like counter !!! So this should be the easiest and we can have as many that want to list each week … So as Devon would say … No limits. ! ”

VIDEO: Bodybuilder injures his arm armwrestling. Video 18 + │1 May 2013, Kostanay, Kazakhstan

Interesting fact: In Sweden the armwrestling sport is called Armbrytning.

Armbrytning translated word-for-word means arm breaking: brytning = breaking.

Of course this is used in the figurative sense, it is like saying: armwrestle me and I will break your arm. 🙂

UPDATE: It was an unfortunate event, the bodybuilder is now in the hospital, he has a tendon rupture. The arm was not broken.

John Brzenk about arm breaking and Magnus Samuelsson – armwrestling.com:

From Mike G.: ” Hello John, I am very impressed with your ability to beat men quickly that are much bigger and seemingly stronger than you. I was wondering what you thought of the armwrestling match in 1995, I believe, at the Worlds Strongest Man preliminary heat. It involved a European armwrestling champion (Magnus Sammuelson) and a powerlifter type Nathan “megaman” Jones. Obviously Jones had no technique and a big ego. He seemed to break his own arm as much as anything. What do you think of Sammuelson’s ability? Have you ever pulled him? “
John Brzenk: ” I’m sorry Mike I haven’t had a chance to see the match your asking about, so I can’t comment on the technique used, or lack of it. But I would agree that injuries are more common with individuals that are strong enough to hurt themselves. In my experience weight lifters or strongmen in general that have developed great power from areas other than armwrestling, can easily pull, or break something before the average Joe would beginning in the sport. That’s why a well conditioned weight lifter should start armwrestling slowly. With a little less intensity then they are probably used to exerting. This will condition their body to this unusual motion. The more time spent on the table, the less chance these injuries will occur. As far as your question about Magnus Sammuelsons ability as an armwrestler, I don’t know. We have never met but my guess would be that with the power and speed he posses it wouldn’t take much to train that strength to work for him on the armwrestling table. “

Magnus Vs Megaman Arm Wrestle

Uploaded on 6 Aug 2006

Magnus takes on Nathan Jones AKA megaman.

This is from his Swedish Power DVD. I got it from Amazon. Don’t think it is there anymore. I don’t want this to get taken down for copywright reasons, as this seems to be happening to my older videos. So yeah… If you like it, go buy it. He talks about his training, nutrition and past events. One of the few “training” DVDs worth money.

  • Marek Musil (◄click to see other articles) started some time ago to make Czech subtitles for the Pulling John movie. After some hard work, because Marek is a perfectionist, the subtitles are finally done. 🙂

Engin Terzi vs. Janis Amolins │October 2013

Engin TerziJanis Amolins
UPDATE – Engin Terzi (09 September 2013):

” i can not even close my right arm after the WAF..the interesting thing was that i didnt feel big injury when my matches were over but once it got cold i realised the damage..i couldnt pull the final match if i would have been in the finals..Janis would win anyways, but i didnt feel bad in this competetion even though on the result it looks bad..with 1 more win i would be medalist both in right & left but ended up 13. and 10. :)) i liked the event !!! “

This image was made by XSportNews.com using two original photos (click on the names to go and see each original photo):     1. Engin Terzi (“2001 WAF at 154”, unknown photographer)│ 2. Janis Amolins (photo by Mark Kazus).

After 35th World Armwrestling Championships 2013 │ Gdynia, Poland (01 – 08 September 2013) it will be decided, if both Janis Amolins and Engin Terzi are healthy, the Supermatch will take place in Balıkesir – Turkey in mid October. The Supermatch will be best of 3 all strap match, 75kg, 1.000 $ is the bet.
Mete Han i am looking for 20 people who are ready to bet 50 dollars each,on Janis against Engin best of 3 supermatch under 75kg.i also put 1.000 dollars on Engin and buy plane ticket of Janis
winner takes all. you all transfer the money to Janis. The date is october 2013.

Engin Terzi i can not pull any supermatch with this neck and elbow right now..my priorities are Europeans and Worlds, but if i survive these 2 events without injuries then i would pull him at mid october under 75kg best of 3 only strap match.you transfer the money to Janis and Metehan buys his ticket..

John R Brzenk I’ve got 50 burning a hole in my pocket to bet on you Engin !!

Engin Terzi John, your chance of winning this bet is less than your chance of beating Denis “this verily day”..but hey the life is full of surprises.. :))

John R Brzenk Well if your chances are that good make it 100 ! I can use that easy money I made off of Neil 🙂

Engin Terzi Janis has won 3 out of last 4 WAFs and you saw him against Devon (even though he was tired)…looks like you just want to encourage me John..i would not be afraid to pull anyone who weighs same as me as long as my elbow is not killing me..you saw i could not even break the balls when we played pool..so elbow is unpredictable, today is feeling OK but tomorrow is full of pain..if Janis agrees then i would pull him in october but i can promise of pulling right after WAF depending on how elbow will feel..

Janis Amolins What are conditions? I would prefer normal supermach with international referees.

Engin Terzi so best of 3 all strap match,75kg, 1.000 is the bet, in Balıkesir Turkey..mid october.. but september 10. is the date to finalise it if both pullers elbows are healthy after WAF..i am in.

John R Brzenk No … I would still bet on YOU.

Engin Terzi we have Europeans in may, national qualification for waf in end of june, month of Ramadan from july to august..then waf in september..

These are just few comments, go and read all the comments in Armwrestling John – Engin
