INTERVIEW: John Brzenk on Arm Wrestling Nation Radio, 22 June 2015

I wrote about some key topics, but you should really listen to the great radio show posted below. You can also download it using the link I posted below the blogtalkradio audio player.
In the beginning of the show , Alper Cosar and talk about about , .
16:23 Talk about armwrestling training / training methods compared to “ToddZilla” , nutrition / diet before an armwrestling competition.
30:07 Talk about steroids use and abuse, doping, drug testing. John said he didn’t know anything about steroids until his early 40’s. After that, he has been prescribed some drug by his doctor. He never felt the need to look into doping, and always gave a laugh when people said: you can’t be competitive as armwrestler unless you are juiced up and taking steroids. He had a laugh because he did it (being competitive without taking steroids) for 25 years, he knows it can be done, it is not a necessity to be a good armwrestler.
32:50 Alper Cosar asked John if he sees a correlation between the domination of the Eastern European armwrestlers (of the lower weight classes) and steroid abuse. John replied he believes there are more people interested in armwrestling in Europe right now than are interested in the sport in USA. Most of the good armwrestlers in USA are still the old timers. It is a new sport in Russia, where it was introduced just 20 years ago. John refuses to believe that they have a magic pill.
34:15 Craig Soubliere asked John if he will compete in Nemiroff 2015 / Zloty Tur 2015 this year. John replied that he has no plans to participate in anything associated with PAL. That is because PAL was appalling when John decided to sign with UAL, although John tried very hard to work with both sides UAL / PAL, and make them understand he can do both.
35:21 Craig asked if he will go to . John confirmed that he will go to A1 this year because he had a great time last year. As long as John doesn’t hurt himself at WAL, he is looking forward to at least have a better match with one of the top guys at A1. He feels really good right handed, his shoulder is getting a little better than last year. John said he is looking forward to see a match between and , because they both have very good hand control and they are very strong.
51:35 Alper asked John if he wants a rematch with and . John said he expects to be across the table with Devon in about 2 weeks (at WAL on JULY 4TH 2015 – LAS VEGAS, NEVADA) and he is excited about that. Alexey might be passed his abilities, but he might surprise him because he is a much better armwrestler than he was in 2004 during the making of Pulling John.
John also talks about how he started armwrestling, his brother Bill Brzenk, other hobbies and many other topics, enjoy the show:

John Brzenk on Arm Wrestling Nation Radio (AWNR) │ Capture by XSportNews from AWNR

Brzenk, Chaffee, ToddZilla but no Cyplenkov at A1 Russian Open 2015 ?

Two weeks ago, when it was posted VIDEOS: Denis Cyplenkov 2 x 150 kg, Denis Cyplenkov was asked in the comments section why it is written 2 instead of 3 reps and if he will go to A1 Russian Open 2015.

Denis Cyplenkov’s answer: ” Первый не зафиксировал!) тренер не засчитал!) А1 в этом году пропускаю! Это не моя вина! Пусть это останется на совести некоторых товарищей! ”

Google Translate: ” The first did not record!), The coach did not count!) A1 this year miss! It’s not my fault! Let it remain on the conscience of some comrades! “
Let’s hope Cyplenkov will change his mind. From what I remember, at a previous edition he also said he will not go, but in the end someone managed to change his mind. 🙂
And now the good news, Bob Brown announced this yesterday on facebook:
Bob Brown – facebook: ” Looks like we are all going back to A1 this year. “

John Brzenk: I had a huge cleaning of Social media

Tom Nelson vs. John Brzenk, World Armwrestling League Regional Finals – 30th – 31st, May 2015 │ Photo Source: Rik Kamana
I made this article because many facebook users don’t understand why they are no longer facebook friends with John Brzenk, and this led to many speculations, many believe it is something personal but I will explain what happened.
Two days ago, I discussed with John about this and will post here something he wrote me when I asked him what happened, just to clear things up.
But first you have to think of this: John Brzenk is The Legend because of what he accomplished in armwrestling, and just one week ago he had over 5,000 friends on facebook from all over the world, because he has many fans.
The problem is that when you have so many facebook friends, what facebook shows in your News Feed many times is irrelevant for you, because it shows you pictures and videos from facebook friends that you have never met, you don’t know who they actually are. Moreover, when some of your facebook friends write in their language, you can’t even understand what they wrote, and Bing Translator still has a long way to go…
In just 2 days, John went from over 5,000 facebook friends to about 2,100 facebook friends (740 mutual friends) right now. So as you can see, it is nothing personal, if you will really think about it you would probably do the same after some years of facebook, you would prefer to see pictures and videos from your real friends that you know in the real life. 🙂
John R Brzenk: ” Yea … I’m sorry but I had a huge cleaning of Social media yesterday and today … No more people I don’t know … Only people I have met and have personally spoken to .. ”

Sad news for armwrestlers, Armwrestling John – Engin facebook group will have to change its name. For this to be possible the number of members will have to be less than 5,000 members. Please remove yourself from that group, right now there are still 5,518 members there.

A new armwrestling group was opened by Engin Terzi, and you can join: World Armwrestling Forum.

Below you can read some posts from Engin Terzi and John Brzenk in Armwrestling John – Engin, they are posted here from the newest to the oldest (the oldest post is the last one).
Engin Terzi ► Armwrestling John – Engin:
” I kindly ask everyone to remove themselves from this group as John doesnt want his name to be involved with this group anymore. I opened a new group to discuss armwrestling. https://www.facebook.com/groups/864246200322973/
Engin Terzi ► Armwrestling John – Engin:
” Please dont post on this page anymore as it is closing. Please remove yourselves as i will need everyone to removed to be able to close the page. “
Engin Terzi ► Armwrestling John – Engin:
” Can please 1.000 members leave the page so that we can go below 5.000 members to change the name of the page ? FB does not allow to change the name of the page if it has more than 5.000 members. I will add you guys back after changing the name of the page. “
Engin Terzi ► Armwrestling John – Engin:
” Sometime ago i opened this page, i asked John to promote armwrestling with me. He accepted and we have been promoting armwrestling together for years. He had been working with PAL and as most of you know that he and Igor had problems and their relationship ended. Since then he has been working with UAL and WAL which i respect. Lately i get an offer to write articles for PAL and i share them here on this page. But John asks me to not to share them on the page that i created. So i disagreed with him and he left the page. Even though i write articles for PAL you all are free to discuss anything about armwrestling here including UAL and WAL stuff. “
John R Brzenk ► Armwrestling John – Engin:
” Engin has decided it’s solely his page to decide what goes on and has decided to remove my administrative privileges . “
John R Brzenk ► Armwrestling John – Engin:
” I’m sorry to announce I am resigning from this board !!
Engin and I have a disagreement about business with PAL …
I will not have my name associated with this league ..
So this leaves me no choice than to remove myself !!! “

John Brzenk: The UAL and I have worked out an agreement that is a win/win for both parties

John Brzenk – facebook: ” I agreed to delete my last thread.
The UAL and I have worked out an agreement that is a win/win for both parties.
Thank you all for the support ! “
John Brzenk: ” I sincerely wish them well “
John Brzenk – facebook: ” I would like to publicly announce that I am not a UAL contracted athlete … My contract expired August 31 2014 and although there was a renewal clause I did not receive this notice until outside of the original contract year.
It would seem this point needs to be argued in court per UAL. “
Cameron Clarke: ” So John does this mean you will be qualifying for the WAL in May….. “
John Brzenk: ” And because of this fact … He claims he is taking legal action because it’s causing him damage …. Guess I’m going to court ! “

UPDATE:

Eric Wolfe: ” After a suit is filed just set up a donations website. . Watch it fill up quickly… This is going to be interesting. . Its like a chess move gone wrong.. will Drenk just let John walk?.. leading the way for so many others to do the same.. or will he be driven by Pride and put up a legal fight that will untimely lead to the demise of UAL. It seams like both choices are not favorable to UAL.. Ok there is a 3rd choice. . Rip up all those fucken bullshit contracts. . Be proactive in letting everyone pull where they want.. and still put on great tournaments.. UAL can still have ultimate match ups between the worlds greatest pullers.. This 3rd option is so clear and its a win win for everyone. . Will Drenk make the right choice? “
John Brzenk: ” Eric, he has publicly and privately changed the rules of contract allowing people to pull when he says it’s ok that it’s hard to know what’s going on.
There were two other proposals from him yesterday. The first was to have WAL and ESPN pay him to release me and then the second option was to have me pay back all money I ever earned from UAL since 2010 …
I don’t think so ! “
