” There has been a lot of talk about WAF and rules lately and as the WAF Head Referee, I would direct everyone to the USAA site.
On the site is the current rules of WAF. The WAF site has incorrect rules on it that I have been trying to get fixed since last July so if you want the current and complete rules go to usarmwrestling.comThis is the wordage for dropping below the table.
2) Competitors cannot drop the competing shoulder below the level of the elbow pad when in a neutral or losing position. This will be considered a dangerous position.
The neutral position defined as the starting position down to 2/3 of the way to the losing side of the table.
The humorous bone of the competing arm will not be inclined down and therefore elevating the elbow and dropping the shoulder below the elbow pad.LH “

” The 2013 Arnold Armwrestling Challenge will test which of the world’s top athletes in arm sports has the most “pull” during the Arnold Sports Festival.
Each year the titans of arm sports gather inside the Greater Columbus Convention Center on the Arnold EXPO stage for two days of armsport action. The preliminary round is Friday, March 1, 2013 from 10:30 a.m.-noon and the thrilling final round is Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 9-10 a.m.
Past champions include George Iszakouits, Margie Ciaccio, and Josie Moieeun. They will be joined by 110 others that qualified by winning a national or world level event.
“The Arnold is the premiere arm sport event in the world,” said Fairfax Hackley, event co-director. “The top athletes from Canada, Poland, Russia and the United States will compete including many world champions.”
“Armwrestlers stand facing each other across a table, one hand grasping an upright peg for leverage and the other hand grasping the opponent’s hand,” said Leonard Harkless, event co-director. “A ‘pin’ is scored when a wrestler touches the opponent to an elevated touch pad, or forces the opponent’s hand, fingers or wrist below the pad.”
“Winning involves a combination of technique and strength of hand, wrist, forearm, bicep and shoulder”, said Denise Wattles, event co-director. “Winning athletes often come from occupations that use those muscles, such as carpenters, machinists and posthole diggers.”

” I gave up playing with heavy grippers many years ago after it inflammed my lower wrist. I have NEVER closed a number 3 …very close at one time without the pregrip… but never persued it. Armwrestling doesn’t require that type of strength …but it is a good device for pumping the forarm up for good blood flow. Use the cheap lights ones 🙂 “

Recommendation of IOC Executive Board
FILA was greatly astonished by today’s recommendation of the IOC Executive Board not to maintain wrestling among the 25 core sports for the 2020 Olympic Games. FILA will take all necessary measures to convince the IOC Executive Board and IOC members of the aberration of such decision against one of the founding sports of the ancient and modern Olympic Games. FILA has always complied with the IOC regulations and is reprensented in 180 countries, with wrestling being the national sport in a fair amount of them and the only possibility for athletes to represent their country at the Olympic Games, thus contributing to their universality.
The FILA Bureau will meet in Phuket (THA) on 16-17 February and will address this issue in view of the presentation of wrestling in front of the IOC Executive Board in St-Petersburg next May.
