” Dear Friends,
Yesterday I have come back from my inspection in Druskininkai about the organization of the upcoming European Armwrestling Championship. I saw all hotels and places around the venue to see how and where you will live. For this moment my opinion is verry good.
Lets start from the transportation to this nice city.
Airport – you can chose Vilnus or Kaunas airport to land in Lithuania. Its about 130km from Druskininkai. On the airport there will be bus waiting for you to pick you up to Druskininkai. Price for bus is set for 20 euro for 2 trips – to Druskininkai and back to the airport. Bus will wait for you after you order it before the championships. Bus will wait for group – they will not go, if it will be empty.
If you want to go by train – the best option is to go to Vilnus and there take the bus to Druskininkai. There is bus every one hour.
If you want to go by car – Lithuania have a good roads and good signs so – without gps you will find Druskininkai. It’s south part of Lithuania. Comming from Poland use road 135, 134 and 180. From Belarus use road 5006 or go to Vilnus and there road A4. From Latvia you can use A6 to Kaunas and then roads 130, 132 and 180 or road E67 from Latvia to Kaunas and then 130,131 and 180.
I have visited 4 hotels. Prices for rooms are different in every hotel and for every room standars. Prices starts from 20 euro / day (2 persons room) and finish at 120 euro / day for apartament room. And what I can say – room standards are really good. In few hotels I saw “standard” rooms in really high level and the price stays at 40 euro. Just check the pictures.
Pictures are from Lux rooms only, but the standard rooms are really nice too. Hotels are about 800-1000m from the sporting hall. There will be some shuttle buses for all competitors but it will be the pleasure to walk around. In the official hotel there is 3 small conference rooms and one big. One of the small halls is for about 120 persons. It’s really great for our congress and technical meetings. In every hall we can use the projectors. There is really nice lobby where we can make the waiting place for weight in.
I made the visitation of sporting hall there. Its standard sporting hall for basketball and other hall sports. The website of this place is http://www.druskininkusc.lt/
There is about 800 siting places on both sides of the hall. We are going to close one side of the hall, so there will be about 400 places free. Organizers will put sitting places on the floor level to increase sitting places.
On the floor level there is 2 changing rooms with the toilets what we can use for doping control. Its about 5m from the hall and about 25m from the stage.
There is 3 changing rooms located at the lower level. We can use it for our stuff.
We can use the office at the higher level. This place is great for our main point (office and the weight in room for the second weight in). There will be the internet connection for our video live broadcast and for our office. Internet speed should be enought for that. Lights at the sport hall are standard hall lights. There was few basketball championships recorded by TV and they used this lights for this event so light should be good for us.
Food – there is a lot of restaurants around. There is the restaurand at the venue too. It was closed right now, but in may it will be open. Food prices are verry good for us. The highest price in one restaurand was 10 euro for really big and good meal (steak set or halibut set).
For this moment everything looks fine. My opinion is good after visitation.
