Poland, the 3rd country to leave WAF and EAF, after Sweden and Finland.

” Decision on termination of membership in the structures of the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) and the European Armwrestling Federation (EAF).

The Federation of Armwrestling Poland conducted public consultations on June 14-21, 2019 among the Presidents of affiliated clubs, which resulted in a vote in the following matter. 21 out of 23 entitled voters voted “FOR” leaving the WAF and EAF structures and 2 holded off their vote.

Among the key aspects that influenced the decision should be mentioned:

1. Lack of transparency in the functioning of WAF and EAF management, including numerous suspicions of financial embezzlement.

2. Unsubstantiated suspension of the contract for the organisation of the World Championship (Katowice 2019).

3. The decisions to suspend the referees and players in a manner inconsistent with the WAF Constitution.

4. Unreasonable suspension of the official representatives and referees of the Federation of Armwrestling Poland and preventing them from performing their duties at the European Championships and other tournaments recommended by the WAF, without presenting official suspension decisions and preventing the appeal.

5. Restrictions on the freedom of athletes to choose tournaments by limiting participation in events only recommended by the management of WAF and EAF.

6. Violation of the constitutional principles of democracy by blocking the participation of individual national activists in the member countries’ assemblies and preventing them from expressing opinions and statements on matters directly related to them and on organizational matters of WAF and EAF.

In connection with the above allegations, the Federation of Armwrestling Poland terminates membership in the structures of the World Armwrestling Federation and the European Armwrestling Federation.

Thus, the Federation of Armwrestling Poland begins activities aimed at supporting new organizations that are transparent and are giving freedom to players and referees to choose sport events that are preferred by them to participate in. “

” Welcome to the IFA Open World Armwrestling Championships

3-6 of December in Rumia, Poland

We are glad to welcome you to the Open World Championships this December in Poland. It will be open to the Federations that have joined, and to all individual members from countries without free federations. The Championships will be doping controlled, and all divisions of junior, masters, seniors and disabled will be added. There will be no limit to number of athletes allowed from one nation in one category. National federations that have joined will be the only entity allowed to register athletes from their nation. Individual membership is only possible from nations lacking a free federation.

Due to longstanding behavior of threats and intimidation directed towards athletes, officials and federations we will also assure those interested that shows of interest will not be made public until an entity has formally decided to join. ”

” A new International Armwrestling organisation is finalizing registering process.

The structure is ready!
A provisional board under the leadership of Anders Axklo have worked with setting up a structure that can grow into the functional and transparent organization that the world armwrestling community needs.
The new international non-profit organization has been filed to Swiss Chamber of Commerce under Swiss law as the International Federation of Armwrestling (IFA) and will within short be available for national federations to join as full members. The choice of Switzerland follows international practice for global sports organisations, for example IOC, GAISF, CAS, FIFA and many more. In short IFA will be under the same legislation as these organisations, something that has been long overdue in armwrestling.

The structure is now in place, and leading up to the first Open World Championships 2019. The dates of the IFA WAC 2019 will be announced shortly.
The provisional board will work with all things needed in preparation for the first championships, and also preparing for the member’s first General Assembly, where open and free elections will be held to set the first executive board.

New international organisation is open to all national federations (full membership) as well as clubs and individual country’s representatives (limited membership), to all who want to help in the shaping of the future of armwrestling. ”

After Sweden decided to leave WAF and EAF, Finland is the second country to leave WAF and EAF.

“Notification of termination of World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) and the European Armwrestling Federation (EAF) membership

Suomen Kadenvaanteliitto, Finnish Armsport Association ry (later Finnish Armsport Association) Board of Directors held meeting 11.6.2019 and unanimously vote decide to terminate its membership and withdraw from the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) and the European Armwrestling Federation (EAF).

Decision is made based on facts that the EAF and the WAF actions does not comply values of the Finnish Armsport Association. The EAF and the WAF of does not respect their rules, its management activities are not transparent and there have been unduly limitations in voting rights as well as exclusion of athletes, officials and referees. Finnish Armsport Association wants to ensure that its athletes, officials and referees has right to compete, practice and be involved in armwrestling without fear to be unduly punished.

Finnish Armsport Association will continue as member of the Finnish Olympic committee and is also fully committed to apply WADA code.”
