ARMWRESTLING / Армрестлинг / Армспорт главная (Google Translate):

Dmitry Trubin specifically for group Armpower.net VKontakte: “I sought for a long time to reach the top. This goal was driven by me, forced to constantly deal with and overcome myself. And now, when I have accomplished so much, I’m not going to slow down the speed. On the contrary, I now began to train even more intensively! Michael is very strong, experienced and technically inconvenient, but I wish him good luck. After all, I’m only sure of one thing: Todd will have to work hard to win me! “

UPDATE 2: ARMFIGHT #45 Vendetta in Vegas: 26 February 2016, NEW DATE and VENUE

UPDATE: ARMFIGHT #45 Vendetta was initially scheduled to take place in Atlantic City and later was changed to Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Many thanks to Marcin Mielniczuk (Marcin Armpower Net) for this very nice interview. You should really read it to find more about  and other interesting topics.

1. Hi Marcin, first of all please tell us what is your current relation with Mazurenko and WAF, I know you are working with both.
Hey. For this moment my situation is still the same like last years – I’m working for Mazurenko Armwrestling Promotion Ltd, PAL USA and WAC Inc. Additionally I’m the Technical Director in FAP (Polish Federation), EAF and WAF. As You know – we can not call it “work” because we are elected or selected in Federations and this cooperation is not a kind of “contract”. Additionally since few years I’m cooperating with Sweden Federation to assist them in some organisation points during the events. So for this moment I’m involved into 7 armwrestling organisations.
2. Could you tell us if the relation between Igor Mazurenko and WAF Directorate has improved ?
Yes. The relation between Igor and WAF Directorate has improved. For this moment I can say only that. Official information will be released at armpower.net soon.
3. What was your role at WorldArm 2015: 37th World Armwrestling Championships 2015 (WAF) ?
Since last European Championships in Bulgaria my duties in EAF and WAF are different than before. As all of you know, I was involved in almost all point of the event organisation – from registrations, weight-ins up to technical aspects of the event. It was a lot of duties to keep 2 positions – Director of Scoring and Technical Director at the same time. Few years ago WAF decided to add one person to our team – Mr Florin Lazar and to give him position of Scoring Director in WAF. He was present at few events to see what we are doing and how we are doing that. For now he is official Director of Scoring. My duties at Worlds 2015 was to keep the technical level of the event as high as we can. I have more time to take a look at the stage, lights, sound and screens right now. I can react for any issues and prepare all the details that You can see at the venue. Additionally for last few years I’m working with TV production in PAL and WAC so I’m prepared to arrange and setup live satellite broadcast from Worlds. This time we made it for internet only.
4. Please tell us about Zloty Tur 2015 World Cup, armwrestlers want details about this amazing competition.
This year we have 2 main changes for this event. First one is location change. For last years Zloty Tur Cup was held in Warsaw – except one year when we moved it to Sopot. This time Zloty Tur Cup is moved to Rumia City. Rumia is located at the northern part of Poland – close to Gdansk (~30km) and Gdynia (~10km). We have there a great city support, really nice venue and hotel so we decided to move it here – closer to our office. Second change is the event name. As you know – Zloty Tur 2014 was cancelled in the last minute because of the Ukrainian situation. This year we are coming back to the original event name – I think the most popular name – Zloty Tur World Cup.
Last organisation difference is in weight classes – we decided to add one class for ladies – 57kg. For this moment ladies can fight in classes: 52kg, 57kg, 65kg and +65kg. The weight difference between 52kg and 65kg was “too crushing” as Igor Mazurenko said.
Here (at Zloty Tur) I’m responsible for coordination of technical groups, TV and Internet broadcast, scoring software etc. I can say – there is 3-4 persons involved into this event and coordinating all teams during the event. In total there will be about 100 people working.
5. What can you tell us about Zloty Tur 2016 ? I heard that it will take place in USA. Is this true ?
For 2016 my calendar is starting to be overloaded right now. In 2015 year I made over 20 armwrestling events all over the world. I spent about a week in the planes and made thousands of km by car. That means I made 2 events every single month. In 2016 it’s going to be insane – there should be more that 6 events in USA made by WAC Inc., more that 10 in Europe and probably additional few regular events all over the world. Zloty Tur World Cup 2016 – American Edition … I can not say anything more about it. Let us made this year event and then we can start planning next year. I will let you know if there will be some details about it.
6. Armfight #44 was great, thanks for the free live stream. Tell us more about the behind the scenes. When it will be aired on CBS Sports ?
Thank You! It was my idea to show this event live and for free for all of you and Igor accepted that. And to be honest – it was really difficult to made it real because of the technical problems with that stream for about 20 minutes before the event started. But we made it and this is important.
About our streaming and video footage that You saw live. I received some comments about breaks, repeats, black-outs, conversations etc. First of all – it was raw video streamed without breaks. This event was produced for CBS Sports Network and main goal was to produce 3 shows for them. That’s why at the beginning You saw 3 times intro and welcome from MC. Additionally between fights there were some breaks to prepare the TV crew for next fight and next episode for CBS. Additionally there was some unexpected supprise from Fremont Street Experience. Every full hour they have their own show at the roof screen for about 10 minutes (with video and sound). This show (especially the sound) was destroying our production so we decide to make a breaks every time they started their animations. In the return – Fremont Street Experience was waiting for us to finish part of our event. So I can say that You saw the live streaming of the event production, like a backstage video. I think this kind of broadcast is even better than the regular one because it allows to be a part of the event organisation.
7. Armfight #45 with Tim Bresnan vs. Alexey Voevoda and Michael Todd vs. Andrey Pushkar already sounds amazing. Give us some details please.
This event is planned for January 2016 in Atlantic City. We are going to make 4 fights but only 2 of them are set for now. For some reasons Alexey Voevoda was not able to be a part of Armfight #44 and WAC Inc. was not able to show this event all over the world so we decide to move this fight to January 2016. We are changing place from Vegas to Atlantic City too. Why? Because of the organisation purposes. Andrey Pushkar is really strong right now. He said to me, that probably he will finish his armwrestling episode because there is no opponents for him (he was joking that moment I hope). So – fight with other “strongest” armwrestler in the World will be verry interesting. As you know – Pushkar lost 0:6 with Michael Todd in 2012 so it’s time to Vendetta. Who will win? We will see there. Bresnan and Voevoda will be really interesting. Voevoda will came back after a long break and Bresnan won his last Armfights so he is waiting for next great fight. I can not predict the result because I didn’t meet Voevoda for a long time.
8. What are your plans for the future in armwrestling / personal life ?
In Armwrestling life… what can I plan. I made the biggest armwrestling World Championships ever (as the organizer) in 2013 in Poland. I was present at all Armfights events since Armfight #9 (2005) and all European Championships since 2004. I made by myself one of the biggest sites about armwrestling (armpower.net) and it’s still working since 2003. I received the biggest award in Armwrestling world – John Miazdzyk Award – in 2013 so my name is at the list of 6 greatest names in Armwrestling world (list bellow). It was the greatest moment in my armwrestling life to see my name together with Dave Devoto and others.
LIST OF WORLD LAUREATES
Awards given out by World Armwrestling Federation (WAF)
2013 – Marcin Mielniczuk, Poland
2002 – Harri and Vuokku Naskali, Finland
2001 – Dave Devoto, USA
1996 – Humberto Panzetti, Brazil
1995 – Steve Stanaway, USA
1993 – Roberto Pareja, Brazil
In my personal life I found my new hobby 2 years ago. I’m active player of AirSoft games. This is some kind of sport (let’s say similar to paintball – but I hate this comparison). We started official organisation with my friends here in Poland. With my experience and their enthusiasm we would like to organize some ASG championships – in Poland for the beginning. Maybe in the future we will grow like armwrestling and You will see my name in other sport.
Thank you for this great interview, Marcin.

PAL – Professional Armwrestling League:
” Alexey Voevoda’s comeback will happen in 2016
The date of one of the most expected and discussed event in the history of armwrestling became known today. The duel between Alexey Voevoda and Tim Bresnan, which will mark the long-awaited return of the Armwrestling Legend, is appointed on January 2016.
Transfer of the expected date of the match from October 2015 to January 2016 is caused by the technical details of the preparation and organization of the match – Alexey insists that his supporters should have the opportunity to watch the match live not only in America and Canada, but also in Russia and in the countries of Europe and Asia, where there is a genuine interest in the broadcast of this historic match. The organizers of the match along with the Alexey Voevoda’s team management are focused on providing this opportunity to all armwrestling fans. “

Tim Bresnan ► World Armwrestling Forum: ” Richard was made to pull over 100 matches Fri and sat by Robert drenk plus a 3 round match with Mike Todd 1 each day! I’m thinking would have been a bit more of a match had Richard started with skin on elbow, not saying Puskar would have lost just would have been. More equill. He tried to slip hand was to strong. “

Tim Bresnan ► World Armwrestling Forum: ” Yes he did I believe it was done to him to screw him up ! And Drenk wonders why he is loading all his pullers, Richard felt obligated because of his contract . I don’t think he will be signing again! And he pulled over 50 matches a day and then a supermatch with Mike T “

Tim Bresnan ► World Armwrestling Forum: ” I don’t know if it would have had my h diffrent esept the matches would have been WARS!!!!!! Rich had no skin on elbow to start was bleeding by 2nd match. AND PLEASE BILL GIVE U.S. RESON RICH WAS FORCED TO PULL ALL THESE MATCHES WHEN MIKE T AND BONGARD WERE THERE AND DIDN’T HAVE TO PULL OVER 100 MATCHES! It was great to see MR Bombard at hotel haven’t seen him since Cahalase . “

Bill Collins ► World Armwrestling Forum: ” For clarification, RL & MT put on a spectator show WWE style “get it” ask Michael Todd….yeah it still puts strain on the arm..Micheal and Kevin also pulled not just Rich, hell I even had some fun.
Rich pulled many times (men, women & kids) 99% all non-armwrestlers…I spoke with Rich many times during this show and his elbow got a little tender, he was being monitored (whatever that might mean) and I mentioned many times save yourself for his one on one match….Rich is a grown man and I can’t see anyone on this earth making him do something he didn’t want to do or couldn’t handle…No doubt after two long days with photo opts and playing on the table, it can take a toll on the arm, mind and body…Rich was a fan favorite everybody loved the big man… Rich is a UAL contracted athlete and was allowed to pull the WAC and as the gentle giant stood by his obligations (honorable man) he still took the match with one of the best in the world…Because the original puller was not allowed…With that in mind, I feel under the condition of contracts, there is only one guy in the USA who can stop Mr. Pushkar, can you guess who? “

Tim Bresnan ► World Armwrestling Forum: ” Really you monitered the skin that was peaked off his elbow on Fri night, and still pulled on sat!!! And for only 1 person that can beat Puskar (luv you Mike but ) if it’s Mike Todd his kings move is no longer legal and should be a foul, and only Mike T and Devon I And Denis S are aloud to use it without being fouled, Dave C would be 1 that can , I do believe I would give him a run the last time I pull was 3 weeks after pulling Devon and trying to pull a man like Puskar NOT FRESH is not a good thing!!!!! “

PAL – Professional Armwrestling League:

” Igor Mazurenko: “Vendetta in Vegas – Armfight #43” Overview

I would like to bring to the attention of armwrestling fans the analysis of the tournament «Vendetta in Vegas – Armfight # 43″ which took place on July 12 at that Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas. The tournament featured 4 historical armwrestling matches between the strongest athletes in different weight categories.

First of all, I want to note that we had to overcome many difficulties during the organization of this Vendetta. It took us 7 months of great efforts to make this event happen. First, after difficult negotiations, we were waiting for the CBS Sports Network contract to be signed, then locking up the date and venue for the tournament, solving other problems. The biggest obstacle was the fact that today “the market” has a large number of athletes who are blocked by contracts with different organizations.

So, the first match – Vazgen Soghoyan and Chris Gobby. Many of you are wondering why other athletes like Geoff Hale and Corrie Miller were not invited to fight with Vazgen. Why we have chosen Chris Gobby – an athlete supposedly inferior to Vazgen by some indicators. We have proposed Geoff Hale to compete with Vazgen 4 months ago. He has refused. He could not take part in the fight as he had a contract with another organization that did not allow him to fight at Vendetta. We started to look for another opponent urgently. And we do not regret our choice fell on Chris. We met a great guy, a devoted athlete Chris Gobby, who was, perhaps unnoticed by other organizations, competing at some regional events, but, nevertheless, he is very promising and talented athlete. Yes, he has lost. Vazgen was stronger than him and won with a score of 5: 1. But the fact that Chris Gobby accepted Vazgen’s challenge for Vendetta, managed to lose weight to the corresponding level speaks for itself. Still Vazgen is a World Champion and there is not much reason to regret about the loss. World Champion has met the Champion of Canada and we saw the result.

Second armfight – Jan Zolcinski and Harold Owens – all of a sudden became the most interesting and most dramatic duel at «Vendetta in Vegas – Armfight # 43.” Some time ago, I have invited Jan to pull at Arnold Classic for he tested his hand with the American athletes. It so happened that he lost to Harold Owens on his right hand that time. Jan had problems with his right hand as he was left-hand athlete. His left hand is much stronger in the wrestling, than the right one. Secondly, his training system did not allow him to go far enough to compete with the athletes of such a high level as Harold Owens. However, in June, when I was doing a seminar on arm wrestling in Poland, Jan Zolcinski found time to come for my consultation on training. Within a month he was able to bring his hand to such a level that it stopped getting stuffed under heavy loads. After the match, he told me that his fingers and forearm are not stuffed and he didn’t feel soreness at all. He is very happy with the training system, which I prescribed for him and asked us, as organizers of the «Vendetta in Vegas – Armfight # 43», to organize him a match on the left hand. I believe that a worthy opponent for him is Chris Chandler. At the moment, we are considering this option for a future «Vendetta in Vegas».

The third match was the most anticipated fight of «Vendetta in Vegas – Armfight # 43». The idea of the whole event was based on it. At this match, in the Unlimited weight class met two of the most famous athletes of the world of armwrestling – Eugene Prudnik, who pulled at the European Championship in the up to 90 kilograms weight class, and Tim Bresnan, weighing 130 kg. Tim challenged Eugene for the Vendetta after their previous match he lost to Eugene by fouls at the Nemiroff Professional World Cup 2013.

For their rematch at this Vendetta a special film called «Vendetta in Vegas – Armfight # 43. Countdown» was made. The short movie features the ordinary lives of two athletes, in particular Eugene, who is a professional actor in the Operetta Theatre Kiev, Ukraine.

But a month before Vendetta the unexpected tragedy happened. During the final match of the European Championship Eugene hurt his shoulder joint. The articular lip appeared to be so damaged that his shoulder needed a long rehabilitation period. However, Eugene accepted the challenge of Tim, and, according to himself, was ready for a fight. The extent of his readiness was difficult to determine because lately he had no hard training. Eugene engaged in the rehabilitation of the damaged joint – massages, physiotherapy and so on. During the first round, according to Tim Bresnan, something snapped in the Eugene’s wrist. Tim was pulling with a top-roll and felt that there was something wrong with his opponent’s wrist. And, during the next round, something snapped in Eugene’s shoulder joint. Prudnik said Pushkar, who assisted him during the match, that he felt concern for his hand. And after the fourth match, with the score 4: 0, Referee-in Chief Leonid Harkless decided to stop the fight and declared Tim Bresnan the winner. For the first time in the history of the Professional Armwrestling League, the match was stopped and the winner was announced ahead of time. On this occasion sounded a lot of criticism. What can I say? Sports aspect of the «Vendetta in Vegas» is always unpredictable as it is a real sports event not just a show. Just like in MMA or boxing matches, where organizers can not guarantee that the match will not end in the first seconds. Someone said that athletes were not properly selected and the like. I can say that in a real fight anyone can find himself in such a situation. Let me stress again that the Bresnan-Prudnik fight was a main card, the whole Vendetta 43 was built around it. But, unfortunately, that fight turned out to be the worst that evening. We are waiting for Eugene’s recovery. He also fights well on the left hand. I am sure we will see him back soon struggling on his left hand in some very interesting match.

The fourth match was, we might say, the most promoted fight in the armfighs’ history. This number of likes and shares exceeded all expectations. Despite the fact that Richard Lupkes lost – Andrew Pushkar did not leave him any chance to win – this match made us feel nothing but admiration for the fact that in his 59, Richard took up the challenge and fought with Andrew. A month ago, when we promoted this fight with Jerry Cadorette, Jerry decided to fight in a different league at the last moment. Of course, we respect the choice of Jerry, but he had to make a choice before we began to invest in the promotion of the fight and athletes. However, we quickly found a solution and agreed with Richard about the match. Today, there is practically no choice of opponents for Andrey Pushkar. Those athletes who can fight with him today are blocked in other leagues. In the future, we may want to look for opponents for Andrew’s left arm – maybe there will be someone who will be able to confront Andrew.

However, we have some ideas about Pushkar future opponents on the right hand in the near future, but for now we want to keep this information secret. The only thing that we can say that those are the candidates of the highest level.

What are the plans of the Professional Armwrestling League until the end of this year? We organize the following Vendetta in Vegas which was planned for October, but may be held in September. Zloty Tur Professional World Cup on November 21-22, and then will be the next Vendetta in early January 2016.

On my own behalf, I want to assure all armwrestling fans that, as an organizer, I never affect the results of our armfights. So I do not get involved in refereeing. What else can I say about the refereeing? To date, this is the strongest point of the Professional Armwrestling League USA. We managed to bring together the work of three talented referees. They are: Leonard Harkless – World Armwrestling Federation Referee-in-Chief, Andrey Mosolov – World Champion and the Master class referee and Reza Dilmaghanian – young referee – expert in judging by a video monitoring system.

In the future, this team will report results and rule changes to the public. ”

Andrey Pushkar vs. Dave Chaffee – April 2015, Vendetta in Vegas

UPDATE 2: Unfortunately this Vendetta will not take place, read what Igor Mazurenko wrote:

Igor Mazurenko – facebook:

” Dear fans of our page! An unfortunate misunderstanding occured. Rather than place a discussion of the THEORETICAL POSSIBILITY of a duel Pushkar – Chaffee, one of my creative eagles overdone and posted a picture, which makes it clear that the fight will take place. In reality – just the opposite. Dave Chaffee can not participate in Vendetta in April because of his contract with the WAL.
I apologize for the unintentional misinformation and please share this message with others.
Igor Mazurenko

UPDATE: A poll was added below the poster, don’t forget to vote who will win.

Igor Mazurenko about ARMWRESTLING and OLYMPIC GAMES

” DOES ARMWRESTLING REALLY NEED OLYMPIC GAMES ?

These days, especially in the Internet, there is a very active dispute, concerning the question wether armwrestling will be an Olympic sports discipline and what it is lacking for this.

Dear friends, after much thought, I decided to write an article about the future of our sport, about what is important and what is not worth of paying attention and should just be let go and be not raised up again and again. Today, in armwrestling there are many organizations and groups that develop our favorite sport discipline in their own way, but there is no clear vision of the system and armwrestling as a popular, self-sufficient and profitable sports discipline.

Many of you have taken a waiting position, hoping for a miracle. Let’s face the reality. As the President of WAC, PAL I receive a lot of messages asking what I, as one of the few armwrestling word officials, do to armwrestling hit the Olympic family.

You even can not imagine how difficult this question is and how difficult an answer is.
Anyone who was involved in the Olympic disciplines of sports states clear: our sports discipline will never be in the Olympic family. This does not mean that we should not try, but we are adults and should face the truth.

What does a sports discipline need to have to become an Olympic discipline?

1. The massive popularity and SportAccord registration.
2. Clear rules and popularity on sports channels. Armwrestling has neither one nor the other.
3. Youth Sports – young people training at different levels. Armwrestling has it only in some countries of the former Soviet bloc. For example, in Russia for the Juniors’ Nationals come up to 350 young people in age categories 14-16 y/o, 16-18, 18-20 y/o. In the United States – youth armwrestling is absent completely. In fact, it doesn’t exist.

With these initial parameters, we must not only stop the discussion on this topic, but just forget about the Olympics.

What can we do for our sports discipline or should we strive for in the Olympic movement?
The question is also difficult, but I’ll answer it.

America is a unique country for the development of any sport to the level of professional sports. There are many examples. For example UFC do not claim to be recognized Olympic Committee and member of the Olympic family, but in fact, it doesn’t really need it. Their athletes are real celebrities, they star in films, TV series, etc.

The second unique “sports discipline” is wrestling, which has two versions: WWE version – in the form of shows – and Olympic wrestling types: classic and freestyle wrestling. Many of you will hardly name a single Olympic champion in classical or freestyle wrestling, but all of US knows who the Rock, Senna, and other wrestling stars are.

This show with elements of wrestling made it possible for athletes to become the Stars of Hollywood scale.

NBA and Olympic basketball. What is cooler?
The answer is clear to everyone. NBA is much steeper than the Olympic basketball. Baseball and softball were in the Olympic movement. It seems to me that so far they ask themselves why they needed it. The Olympic movement completely useless for American baseball stars, truly.

My answer is clear: armwrestling needs to develop as a professional sport. We need to sit at a round table with all the organizations for negotiation. It is necessary to standardize the rules of, sports equipment, etc.

In the US, there are all the necessary mechanisms. And after some 5-10 years, we will see our athletes, as movie and television stars. This will bring children and youth, adults and the elderly’s, huge masses of people to arm wrestling.

And only then can we think about whether we go to the Olympic family, or it is not worth it.
