Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda – Sochi 2014

List of 28 Russian Athletes doping cases overturned by CAS

Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda – Sochi 2014
Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda – Sochi 2014

A total of 43 Russian athletes were banned by the IOC. Three more are still waiting to have their appeals heard and one — bobsledder Maxim Belugin — has not appealed.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) overturned the IOC suspensions – for doping at the 2014 Winter Olympics – partially upholding 11 other appeals.

In the statement explaining its decision, Cas said its mandate “was not to determine generally whether there was an organised scheme allowing the manipulation of doping control samples in the Sochi laboratory”.

It said it was “strictly limited to dealing with 39 individual cases and to assess the evidence applicable to each athlete on an individual basis”.

CAS said that in 28 cases evidence was “insufficient” to prove doping.

Cas secretary general Matthieu Reeb said there was only “circumstantial evidence” that supported individual claims of doping.

He added: “It is a matter where there is no direct evidence, such as positive test or a voluntary admission.

“This does not mean that the 28 athletes are declared innocent, but due to insufficient evidence the appeals are upheld, the sanctions annulled and their results in Sochi are reinstated.”

Alexey Voevoda is NOT one of the 28 doping cases overturned by CAS – Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Alexander Zubkov, who was Alexey Voevoda’s teammate in both Two-man and Four-man bobsleigh at Sochi 2014, was one of the 11 (eleven) whose doping offences were confirmed.

ICARUS

2 VIDEOS: ICARUS (2017): Documentary about doping in Russia

ICARUS – Collage made by XSportNews using images from Icarus trailer

Grigory Rodchenkov (the former director of a Moscow laboratory, the Anti-Doping Centre) said that all russian athletes from were using doping. Russia won a record number of 13 gold medals at Sochi 2014, Alexey Voevoda won 2 gold medals.

According to the documentary, this happened because Vladimir Putin wanted to prove that Russian athletes are the best, and he involved even the Federal Security Service (the former KGB) to take care of this.

I have to say that it is unfair for armwrestling and other non-Olympic games because, in the same 2014 year, Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) was very active, probably wanting to prove that they take anti-doping seriously, and made a record number of doping tests with many positive results, including the biggest number of russian armwrestlers that failed the doping test. See ► List of doping cases in Armwrestling

I also want to mention that even after this very good documentary, I don’t see Russia as being the only country doing cover ups of doping. A similar scandal took place in USA. The only difference is that in USA they don’t always kill people for telling the truth. 🙂

In 2003, Wade Exum, the United States Olympic Committee‘s director of drug control administration from 1991 to 2000, gave copies of documents to Sports Illustrated that revealed that some 100 American athletes failed drug tests from 1988 to 2000, arguing that they should have been prevented from competing in the Olympics but were nevertheless cleared to compete. Back to Icarus (plot summary): When Bryan Fogel sets out to uncover the truth about doping in sports, a chance meeting with a Russian scientist transforms his story from a personal experiment into a geopolitical thriller involving dirty urine, unexplained death and Olympic Gold-exposing the biggest scandal in sports history. Icarus on imdb: 8.1 ⭐

You can watch Icarus on Netflix or on other streaming sites. Below you can watch the trailer and after that an interview with Bryan Fogel who was the director and also a main character in the documentary.

” According to the European Armwrestling Federation (EAF) on the official website of the WAF – only one of doping tests in European Armwrestling Championship in Poland (Katowice) gave a positive result. And, sadly – a drug found in the Russian athlete Elena Usatova.

We write, speak, warning – all to no purpose!

Since all the same, despite the entreaties, warnings, thorough chewing of the situation – in the national team of Russia in arm wrestling are people willing to jeopardize the fate of the Russian Armwrestling Federation (RAF) and the fate of their colleagues, athletes and coaches, RAF reserves the right to preventive action !

On this day Elena Usatova fully admitted her guilt, she didn’t request the analysis of the B Sample.

Newsletters about violation of anti-doping rules of the athlete will soon be sent to the place of study (work), the authorities of the subject of the Russian Federation at the place of residence and the competent authorities.

In the same way, the Anti-doping Committee of RAF develops a number of additional measures and sanctions aimed at preventing such cases! “

VIDEO: ANAD, WADA, EAF, WAF Doping Control is a Joke or Someone is Lying ?

ANAD (Agenţia Naţională Anti-Doping) = National Anti-Doping Agency (in Romania)

According to ACCREDITED LABORATORIES – World Anti-Doping Agency, the only WADA Accredited laboratory in Romania is the Romanian Doping Control Laboratory which belongs to National Anti-Doping Agency.

EUROARM 2016: 26th European Armwrestling Championships 2016 took place in May 2016 (Competition days 24 – 28 May 2016), in Bucharest, Romania.

On 1 July 2016 there was a COMMUNICATION FROM DOPING CONTROL COMMITTEE which informed us:

” The Doping Control Committee has been informed by the Laboratory that due to technical problems, the analysis of samples taken during EUROARM2016 will be delayed.

At this date / 1 JULY 2016, no date could be given for WHEN the results will be sent to us.

The samples have all been sent and are secured at the official WADA accredited Laboratory.

The Doping Control Committee apologises for this increased delay and will inform all Federations and competitors who have been tested as soon as we get the test results.

At this moment (28 September 2016), 4 months after the EUROARM 2016: 26th European Armwrestling Championships 2016, we still don’t know the results of the doping tests, and the aforementioned communication (01 July 2016) was the last communication from the Doping Control Committee.

This is a big issue, considering that the WorldArm 2016: 38th World Armwrestling Championships 2016 is about to start and the starting lists are ready. The problem is that on these starting lists we might have some athletes who were using doping at EuroArm, but we can’t know this as long as we don’t have the doping test results from EuroArm 2016: 26th European Armwrestling Championships 2016.

There is a small chance that ANAD has nothing to do with this, maybe they weren’t actually involved in the testing process, although EuroArm took place in Bucharest, Romania. This would be strange but not impossible, considering that there is no transparency in the testing process in both EAF (European Armwrestling Federation) and WAF (World Armwrestling Federation). We never know which laboratory did the tests, we don’t have any proof that EAF or WAF really made the number of tests they claim.

This article will be sent to both ANAD and WADA, but I don’t expect to get any answers, considering that the general tendency is not really towards a clean sport, see ► WADA object to Team Sky’s idea of making TUEs public

If you feel down after reading this, I highly recommend you watch this funny video with John Oliver, (uploaded on youtube before Rio 2016 Summer Olympics) which shows many truths about doping.
